DJI Mini 5 Pro Brings Pro-Level Performance to an Ultra-Light Drone

DJI has unveiled its latest ultra-light drone, the Mini 5 Pro, as the successor to the Mini 4 Pro. This advanced device targets professional photographers and content creators seeking high performance in the sub-250g weight class, while also being user-friendly enough for beginners who want an all-in-one solution.

A key hardware upgrade is the 1-inch sensor, capable of capturing high-resolution 50MP photos and offering 2x hybrid zoom. As with previous models, the camera can switch between landscape and portrait orientation and can rotate up to 225 degrees. This flexibility resembles features found in higher-end models like the Mavic 4 Pro.

One of the major improvements is the addition of LiDAR technology, enabling superior obstacle detection even in low-light environments. This upgrade allows the drone to safely avoid transparent or hard-to-see objects such as glass surfaces, something that traditional optical systems may struggle with.

The next-generation return-to-home system can now function with as little as 1 lux of ambient light—equivalent to typical street lighting—compared to the previous 15-lux requirement. Additionally, the drone can now return home without satellite assistance, as long as there is adequate daylight.

Subject tracking software has been enhanced with the new ActiveTrack 360 feature, which uses AI to follow moving targets more intelligently. The system now supports more dynamic flight paths, even when the subject is riding a bicycle or moving unpredictably.

Sales have already begun in European markets. The basic package with a battery is priced at €799. The Fly More Combo, which includes additional accessories and controllers, costs €999 with the DJI RC-N3 controller, or €1,129 with the RC-2 controller.
